Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you seek in your life.
Neurofeedback is a process of direct training of brain activity where the brain learns to function more efficiently. Individuals are able to observe their brain's electrical activity in real time displayed on a large monitor. The brain is rewarded for changing its own activity to more functional patterns. It is a gradual learning process that can help with anxiety, depression, attention deficits, behavior problems, sleep disorders, headaches / migraines, and more. Additional information about Neurofeeback (including research) can be found on the International Society for Neurofeedback & Research (ISNR) website at: https://www.isnr.org/
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress (EMDRIA.org). Lesa Swanson has been practicing EMDR Therapy since 2007 and has since become Certified and an Approved Consultant through EMDR Interational Association.
Biofeedback is a two part process. First, individuals gain awareness of their physiological functioning by seeing it displayed to them in real time. Examples include: heat rate, muscle tension, skin temperature and skin conductance. Second, they learn to regulate their own unconscious bodily processes, and as a result, gain better control of their stress responses. It can help with: stress reduction, chronic pain, anxiety, high blood pressure, ADHD, Raynaud's disease, peak performance, migraines, gastrointestinal problems, unconscious teeth grinding, and more. Additional information can be found on the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, Inc. website at: https://www.aapb.org
Lesa is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and provides both group and individual consultation for those who are looking to fulfill their consultation hours for the basic training or becoming certified in EMDR Therapy. Please contact us for additional information.
